The sad part is there are probably thousands of stories like these that are never recognized or even told. Most people don’t have that kind of fortitude, but those that do really show how indomitable the human spirit can be.
That reminds of a story you shared that has always really stuck with me. It’s when you were talking about what your maximum repetition of an exercise was (I think curls). You stopped and then your coach or whoever told you to keep going. Your final number was something crazy like 38 full reps, 23 half reps, 10 quarter reps before complete muscle failure.
There was a training I did recently that was talking about the CNS response that “makes” us stop and how to override it so we can get more out of our efforts.
