I actually have a modified drop step that I would like to have higher level instructors opinion on. It’s not so much of a drop step but more of a lunge step. It’s the exact same as the drop step with one thing different. It goes as follows… interview stance, weight on front foot 80%, rear foot raised with 20% of your weight, lean onto the front foot before raising it to strike. The main difference is that instead of the feeling of falling which feels unnatural, focus on the front foot rising and the rear foot pushing off the ground at the exact same time. You are lunging into the enemy EXPLOSIVELY. So as you lean you raise front foot, push off back foot, Attack Stomp attack Stomp attack Stomp. Does this make sense? Does this work? The only downside I could see to this is if one was standing on ice or slick grounding to not push off.
