Yes logic and critical thought ,grounded in real life experience, and consulting\learning from proven high aptitude teachers is important. Any idea, practice, art has to be vetted like an engineers design schematic and put to the test. Thats why the scientific method is always the starting point for me; studies, trials, white papers, etc.. Hence why I love the phoenix videos for their straight mechanical approach and I am truly amazed at what was created from the governmanet\corporate and military studies that spawned it. This is an aspect of self-defense no one ever taught me but jeet-kune-do has that spirit but requires months of drilling and isn’t as immediately usable as a drop step and hand yokes I think.
