That might work if I can figure some way to mount the pad firmly enough. At home I have started doing Tabatas to try and increase my cardio capacity (not easy when half your heart is covered in scar tissue) . 20 seconds of all out work 10 seconds of rest repeated 8 times. It works great doing 20 seconds on an exercise bike followed by 20 seconds of striking the bag as hard and fast as you can. My heart rate is through the roof after 4 minutes of that. Doing several of those sets in a row is very challenging.
