One really noteworthy aspect in the groundfighting module of the SDTS that mma, other martial art styles, and even other reality based self defense systems fail in doing is hacking and elbowing and working your way up your opponent in the mount position to pass his guard and pinning both of his arms with your knees so he is pretty much your bitch and defenseless and totally restrained at that point with both of your hands free to do whatever the hell you want with him. All other ground fighting techniques from other styles or systems will have you just mount your opponent in the typical mma or jiu jitsu style mount that leaves you still in a dominant position but both of your opponents arms free to fight back, strike, gouge, and even maybe pull off a submission on you if he’s a skilled grappler. Not to mention if you’re outweighed by 50 or 100 pounds or even if he’s not bigger or stronger than you if he’s a skilled ground fighter this position still leaves you open to being off balanced and flipped or at the least him escaping your mount and you loosing your dominant position or at worst you end up being the man on bottom which is the last place we wanna be. Not to mention in a street fight if he has an arm free that is an arm that can easily grab a weapon to use against you and cause you to go from kicking ass to a mass of lifeless bleeding flesh in a matter of seconds, the most optimal defense we learn against an opponent atop us in this same module. The only bad and scary thing I can say about the SDTS is that with the knowledge and skillset it gives you it really opens your eyes to the fact that the very same tactics we learn to use against those who try to do us harm can also be used by them against us but with this knowledge comes power and the ability to defend against it and use it to our benefit. A lot of the traditional techniques in martial arts like judo, bjj, jujutsu, various styles of wrestling, have their place and are imperative if you want to succeed in the world of sport grappling or mma matches but even most of those who teach these arts know that most of those techniques are to be left in the cage or dojo where they belong and the rules totally change on the street. Armbars, triangle chokes, etc. are very useful techniques when there are rules to prevent an opponent from biting your nuts off or biting a hole in your leg lol. Of course we know groundfighting is something that should be avoided altogether if at all possible and the best alternative is to stay or get back to your feet and finish them with some good steel toe boots, but in situations where immediate escape isn’t possible or in situations where your profession requires restraining a grounded opponent Module 3 is really the best and only valid ground fighting material out there that is suitable for real life or death application.

I’m just now looking over the videos in mod 3 and I have to agree. I’m a blue belt in bjj and I must say that the moves in mod 3 would dominate a grappler. Being in a few NAGA competitions and grappling I was led to believe that what I was training was self defense, 5 years ago before I found the SDTS website. Now watching the vids in mod 3 I can see the holes that are in grappling, street fights are not fair and you can not fight fair when shtf. You gotta hack and bite and whatever to survive!

Right [Archie Thomas]. Where the grappling will help you is maintaining your POA (position of Advantage) and it will enable you to deploy the SDTS Module 3 techniques easier.
