Guys, does taking ammino acid supplements have any value in building muscle? Some say it’s a gimmick. Others say that after a workout ( primarily weight training) it’s a great idea to take ammino supplements.
They say it prevents excessive soreness.
What do you guys think?

Creatine and protein shakes have made the biggest difference for me.
Amino acids (the building blocks of protein) themselves? I wouldn’t bother. -

I just never saw the results with aminos that I did with Creatine and quality Protein shakes.
The most effective was creatine along with the ABC diet for gaining mass.

For me, a good healthy diet of natural foods. I have never been one willing to put additives in my body – who knows what can happen 10, 20, 30 years later. I say stick with natural foods & regular exercise.

I’ll be putting up a quick overview of the ABC diet as it has been proven to work and can be easily implemented.
The ABC diet consists of all real healthy food and has worked wonders for me.

Aminos are very important. There is no major body building whey protien supplement that does not provide aminos already in the powder. Aminos help synthasize protien into the muscle which helps to heal muscle this makes ones muscle bigger and stronger.
Does one need additional amno acid suppllemenys? Prolly not.
Personally I use a high quality whey protien as well as creatine and a vitamin pack plus additional omegas 3 6 and 9.
These work for me.

Nope. The primary way I take in protein is through lean meat. Chicken Breast and fish. But I weigh in at around 240 and one needs to take in about 1 gram of protein per pound. Thats a good amount of meat so whey makes it easier.

I’m with Kirk on this one. Who knows what after effects can be the result. A natural diet would be my best bet like protein and vitamin A, C and B. You don’t want to end up looking like Sylvester Stallone do you!

Hey guys, here’s a quick overview of the ABC diet:
This works great when training to bulk up and when limited to 2 months and a week in duration at a time.
2 weeks overfeeding phase.
For this phase you eat anywhere from 1 and a half to 2 times your usual calories.
So let’s say you regularly eat 2000 calories a day. You eat 3000-4000 a day for 2 weeks.
Food should consist of a good mix of pasta, lean meat, bread, dairy and fruits and vegetables.
Then after 2 weeks you cut down to four fifths of your usual caloric intake.
So at 2000 regularly you would cut to 1600 calories for a week.
Then go back to 3000-4000 for 2 more weeks. The whole diet should last for 2 months and a week then revert to normal for another 2 months.
This is a very effective diet for maximizing muscle gain for a 6 month to a year period. You’ll definitely make some great gains.
As always you should consult a doctor before implementing any type of extreme dieting.
