InactiveEvery thirty minutes in the United States a fully defensible
person is attacked and killed. That’s a known fact from the
CDC.
But recently one of these deaths has been caught on video.
Chicago police are still investigating the gang fight that
erupted Thursday in Roseland that resulted in the death of
16-year-old Fenger High School student Derrion Albert.Albert was killed in a melee near the school that police believe
is a continuation of ongoing tensions between Fenger students
that are members of rival gangs. An amateur video of the brawl shows dozens of people punching,
kicking and swinging wooden boards in the street. Albert was
struck by blows from one of those boards, Fox Chicago reports,
and the video obtained by Fox shows a person getting hit with a
board and then stomped on after falling to the ground. As people rush to help the injured person, a voice can be heard
on the video yelling, “Derrion, get up!”The following link contains graphic violence. Viewer discretion
is advised.
AlbertsVideo[/url:2ozijrm1The nation is reacting to this death from multiple angles. It’s
interesting to hear the comments from the Press to the White
House calling the crime, “chilling.”Now, the SDC isn’t taking a self defense stance on this instance
of what decision Derrion could have made to prevent his death.
Instead, I would like each of you to pay attention to media
around this case. Even though this happens everyday, around the
US and around the globe this tragic end has been captured on
video to be relived at any moment.Four teenagers have been charged with first-degree murder in
Derrion Albert’s beating death. I wouldn’t be surprised to see
federal intervention in this case. Starting anti-violence
campaigns or after school programs directly linked to the Alberts
murder. It’s a bittersweet beginning, that action is only taken
on this scale at the cost of a life.Feel free to share your thoughts.

Damian (Instructor)KeymasterIt never surprises me the brutality of mankind. This video made me sick to my stomach.
Unfortunately, this tragedy illustrates a trend over the last several years, violent offenders are getting younger. Most crimes happen in the 13 to 20 year old range.
The younger you are, the more invincible you feel, the less you have to lose, the less consequences you have for your actions. Even original gang members, old school guys, can’t believe the acts of violence perpetrated by the younger members. You can see evidence of that in the Houstone gang in Houston, TX (featured in National Geographic’s “Gangland” series).
By the time a child goes to middle school they must be prepared to deal with violence and dangerous situations.

Damian (Instructor)KeymasterLast week, we discussed the brutal beating of Derrion Albert. A
16 yo, honor student in Chicago beat to death on his way
home from school. As suspected the federal government has
stepped in to address the occurrence and causes.Beginning with a $500,000 grant to help make Fenger and the
schools that feed into it safer. Followed by visits from U.S.
Education Secretary Arne Duncan and U.S. Attorney General Eric
Holder. The Department of Justice on Wednesday released a study
that measures the effects of youth violence.Last year there were more than 30 youth funerals last school
in Chicago, as a result of school violence. What really makes
this one different? The question on the media mind is, what’s
next.Let me tell you.
There will be many more meetings and studies conducted. The end
conclusion reached will be the need for community awareness and
participation in youth activities. The Feds will supply a
generous amount of capital, that it would not be able to provide
on a national level, to the Chicago area while the life of
Derrion Albert, outside of friends and family, fades into
statistics. The hidden moral of the story is if you want action, you
need a video of murderous proportion and viral marketing.
Perhaps domestic violence shelters need to begin using
home-security cameras to increase their funding. The Albert
murder has set a new standard of provoking federal intervention,
now it’s just a matter of immolation and escalation. That brings us to a close on the Albert’s case. Remember,
defensive tactics are the true front line against
violence. It’s great that the Feds have stepped in to “show”
their commitment to addressing this incident. But it took a
life captured on camera and many before him to prompt action.
Self Defense is part of the prevention network. It
increases survivability to decrease the violent deaths of our
family and friends. That’s why we teach. -

Damian (Instructor)KeymasterThis was a senseless killing. I wonder sometimes about this case and others. How much of this has to do with folks not understanding the reality of violence. Largely being desensitized by the media. I know for myself there was a large difference in what I thought of violence in my minds eye and what it was really like.
In a country that romantizes violence so much. Folks and especially the young dont understand that even a mild form of violence in the grand scope of things like a punch or edge of hand blow…can result it death.
I also think it is an under taught aspect of self defense. I have trained in martial arts on and off for 20 years under many different instructors and not one them ever mentioned the reults of the tecniques we practiced barring the obvious leathal ones. Chokes etc.
Something to think about.

Damian (Instructor)KeymasterWe are desensitized, there is no doubt. There is evidence in the degree and severity of violence.
The kid who picked up a stick in the 70’s, a knife in the 80’s now has a firearm. Violence has become more savage and more brutal.
Personally, I feel the same number of good and bad is out there, it’s just that the bad is getting worse, while the good is getting softer.

Damian (Instructor)KeymasterI was born and raised in Chicago. I grew up 6 block from Count Dante’s School. I could tell you stories but perhaps another time. Two years ago, a senior was found dead with her pet dog with her. It was not hard to figure out the victim knew he attacker. I offer to train 100 people AT MY EXPENSE!!
I made the offer to the Aldermen and the local churches in the area. I got one reply. It was one of the largest black churches on the south side of Chicago. I got an email stating, “At this time we and not need for these lessons”. I wrote back to the church asking for the solution to have a large congregation that does not need to learn self defense. The city is spending money to :”Turn in your guns” instead of “Get a gun and learn how to shoot”.
The people are “trained” to live with the gangs that are there. I went home a few months ago and the poor people don’t have Real Self defense offered in the community. I know this because I have personally contact the “schools’ that were(and still are ) strong in the community. They will have someone that “once had the fastest kicks in the world” teach a seminar but they will not have a simple Self Defense course That works. (we all know the reason why). The “Self Defense” courses are on the North Side with an organization that has the “Armored Assailant”(go to http://www.getstreetdefense and click on Armored Assailant”) They are where the money is. In a year or two I will invade their grounds and teach the same thing that are but at better prices. They and the marketing for what they teach. They have been there for years but have always been exclusive. The need for REAL SELF DEFENSE TRAINING in what the ENTIRE city of Chicago need. Yes, it is going to be hard. YES, people will die before it gets better but people have a chance to live without fear if the REAL MEN ever return to Chicago..[/size] -

Damian (Instructor)KeymasterIt’s evident that these particular acts of violence more commonly plague minority communities than anywhere else in the country. This is fact not racism

Damian (Instructor)KeymasterDear White Supremacist
Let’s start this by saying you are a racist. The fact that the kid was 16 years old didn’t even come in to your aryan nation bald head.
In fact, your entire post has no purpose but to demonstrate what a bigot you are.
Did you ever think crime had something to do with poverty which by the way keeps more whites down than minorities (yes that is figuring out proportionally). Larger the population the more poor people you have and the more have nots the more crime you have.
Education is the key to getting out from under these problems, and that includes educating people to defend themselves. As was said already the city will spend a fortune on a gun buy back program where largely honest people bring in the guns they find, and has nothing with disarming criminals. Gun ownership is a right and anywhere in the world where there is repression and human rights are being denied you’ll find a disarmed population.
Now back the to racist aspect of this bullshit argument. Crime is everyone’s problem, and you can’t criminalize one group and think it will solve your problems. The Nazis rounded up everyone who was a “trouble maker”, and look where it got them. Come on you remember the good old days when your people had a shot at running a country, and than it failed and well they all got dragged off kicking and screaming before they were shot. Your ideology never made sense and what’s more in practical terms it never worked.

Damian (Instructor)KeymasterI will have you know I am not a white supremacist, but I can understand why you would think that. I just said in certain areas of the nation, crime is more rampant. I know you read the article on South Africa, it’s smaller in size and in population but 6x America’s crime rate and nearly 20x Britain’s, and the country’s in Africa. Are you going to disagree that white neighborhoods are just as dangerous as black and latino neighborhoods in south L.A.? Look what happened with Rodney King, minorities tore that place up in the 90s. Incase ya hadn’t noticed Damian. The drug cartels are run by Mexicans, 30,000,000,000$$ a year business. Are you gona claim the fact that Mexicans run the drug business, “racist” if so, well, that’s your opinion. And I am not a Nazi. Ever see that show on the history channel GangLand? Im not surprised that every new gang they find is black/latino youth. I understand not all of these people are like that. But there’s certainly enough of them to make statistics.

Damian (Instructor)KeymasterBTW, how did you know I have a shaved head? Honestly, because I do. But a 20 year old white boy with a shaved head doesn’t make him racist.

InactiveNo your not a racist when I was your age I wasn’t. I had black friends and never hurt anyone. Oh wait, I told myself I just loved my people more, and the Nazis weren’t so bad, and the facts were on my side. Than something happen. I got educated and I grew up!
More you learn the more you find things aren’t cut and dry. South Africa you have to be kidding. The crime is miserable and most of those being victimized are other blacks. When you go from having a boot on your throat to having full rights people will take advantage, and there will be those who will always think there is a score to settle rather than move on an improve.
Mexicans running drugs and taking the jobs well you’d be right, but I blame the ruling elite of Mexico that would rather exploit there own people than fix their nation’s problems. Btw not everyone South of the border is a Mexican they have there own national identities, and culture. Most aren’t happy with there country being known for the drug trade, and many have fought and died to stop it.
As to Gangland it is one of my favorite shows also and I’ve only seen a hang full of white gangs portrayed and the rest of been minorities, and they’re not their whole community. I also recall with the show that most of the members who make it to old age realize how stupid they were.
You I doubt will come to that conclusion any time soon. Nazi your not one I have a feeling they didn’t have guys like you in mind when they came up with the master race.
Nobody has to like the the people they live around, but you do have to respect each other. Tolerance isn’t easy, but the alternative is unacceptable. I’ve read the criminal statistics and know who is most likely to attack me, but to assume it puts your guard down. Your so concern about the minority that might attack you’ll miss whose actually going to attack you.
Workout, get educated, and stop being so stupid. We need good people for the cause.

Damian (Instructor)KeymasterListen douche, “you don’t have to like the people you live around, but you do have to respect one another”? Okay? Who says I have to respect anyone? Does the majority of the population deserve my respect “Just Because” in your opinion? People need to earn respect. But I bet you’re the type of guy who will respect someone just because they have a pussy! Wow. You’re probably an older sissy-pansy white man who just has the utmost respect for the world. And anyone who doesn’t think like you must be a Nazi right! I bet if I was a Mexican kid with a shaved head, you’d be cool with me.

Damian (Instructor)Keymasterthis may come as a hella-surprise to you, but every race is racist to an extent, wow, bet you thought only your people are, just because im not afraid to be politically incorrect dont get mad at me just because you’re too afraid to be.

InactiveNo I don’t respect everyone. You for example, but I give people the benefit of the doubt. You get disappointed, but things aren’t to fun when you assume everyone is an asshole.
Racism yeah most people are, but if your using that for justification for you being racist that is pretty lame. As to being a Nazi I think your IQ makes you one of their thugs, but at least they’re organized. I don’t throw that word around you punk, because I know what the real Nazis did.
And to answer your question I wouldn’t be cool with you because you’d just happen to be Mexican. Your a moron and a waste of space.
I told you to get educated, grow up, and start training. When you do all that than come back and talk to me.
Otherwise your just an angry little man. White or otherwise your a credit to nobody.

Damian (Instructor)KeymasterI wouldn’t pay attention to anglo_saxon_combatant. If he’s even Anglo_saxon at all…or if he even knows what the word means. He obviously has inner issus and his fashion nazi trend is a cry for help.
