Speaking of him, when I was going through my Instructor certification for the ASP baton, I had been beating on the dude hard (!) for several rounds. To say I was gassed out would be an understatement. I had nothing left in the tank when time came to start the next round. The referee blew the whistle and I just stood there, drew my imaginary pistol, and shot my opponent. My instructor asked, “What the hell was that?” I said, “Indiana Jones… bitch!” Laugh

      Right.
That also brings up the problem with training. Most people train you in a vacuum. Don’t make that mistake.

Train with all of your weapons. If you have your ASP and you’re using that, OK but when it starts to get out of control and you think you’re going to die you WILL DRAW YOUR FIREARM.

Specific weapon training is like specific defense – you start to get boxed in and automatically stick with the weapon so it turns into some bizarre stick fighting match.

You use the ASP when you have someone who is not obeying verbal commands. If they’re actively attacking you, well you’re within your right to do what is needed to save your life and the lives of others. PERIOD.

When you’re training you need to have all your tools with you and at your disposal. That “focused” kind of training needs to be put in the round file.
