What if two people both trained in the SDTS were to fight, who would win, would it be he who strikes first?

If they were true SDTS students & honorable, they would excerise Rule #1 – avoidance. You decide.

Oh absolutely, I’m just speaking on a tactical level.
What would decide the outcome, would it be he who acts first that would have the advantage? Thanks though Kirk, I don’t want to be mistaken for attempting to bring up a pointless argument, Im just looking at the logistics of it.

The first 10-15 seconds would probably tell – the one who gets the best hits in first. The best defense is a good offense.

Well….Heres the truth about this. Not all men are created equal or are equal at ant particular moment. Both of the combatants using the SDTS just means they are pulling there tools from the same box so to speak. Another analogy could be that both combatants are using lets say my favorite handgun…Sig P 250 so neither has a a tecnical advantage. This being said the truth many dont understand is that a system, style or weapon system dont make the fighter the man does. Of course styles sysyems and weapon platforms give a distinct advantage but do no tell the whole story.
With that said. What would determine the winner? I think the following would and does every single day through out the world.
Which has the advantage in the following areas.
1) Combat Psychology: Who has the advantage in aggression, clearness of mind. Stomach for violence and courage and maybe most important in this category determination to win.
2) Combat Experience: Self explanatory but very very very important. did I say very important? Who has more or some has a great advantage.
3) Attributes: Strength being stronger is a huge advantage. It tends to be taken lightly in the martial arts community…Erroronously. Size, balance and speed..Big deal as well as lung and muscle endurance. Most imortant in this category. Natural Combative talent some folks can just fight well and sometimes it is inconspecusly. Noodle armed….100 and nothing..etc. but hits like a truck they just have natural abilty to hurt someone.
4) Tool Box: I talked about this in the first paragraph.
5) Luck.: Like it has been said…Id rather be lucky than good. Getting lucky is always a good thing ” title=”Embarassed” />So whomever came out in these 5 basic categories is the man who wins
There are more factors of course but here is the basics.

Thanks for your replies, It’s been argued that the man makes the fighter not the system is more of a combat sport analogy.
Like many say, it’s the person behind the martial art and not the art itself.
I agree that this has it’s place in self defense but I also strongly believe it is more applicable in sport.
Outcomes in sports are more based on attributes than the street.
A clear example of this is through the use of “dirty” tactics, things can be equalized on the street. -

I think attributes are of equal value in combat sports and a real fight. There both physical endeavors. One uses there physical attributes to succeed in foul tactics.
It is common for folks to think they will level the playing field against an opponent who is superior in one way or another. Which is possible to do of course but remember they can and will for sure after we do if there is fight in them.
A while back at work I ran across what I call a true crippler. He was around 6ft 6 350 and was packing spray and a benchmade…another sobering experience.
My 2 cents
