If you don’t know the name…Adrian Carton de Wiart, you will now. This guy is my new “man-crush”.
From Wikipedia…
Lieutenant-General Sir Adrian Paul Ghislain Carton de Wiart,[1] VC, KBE, CB, CMG, DSO (/də ˈwaɪ.ərt/;[2] 5 May 1880 – 5 June 1963) was a British Army officer. He was awarded the Victoria Cross, the highest military decoration awarded for valour “in the face of the enemy” in various Commonwealth countries.[3] He served in the Boer War, First World War, and Second World War. He was shot in the face, head, stomach, ankle, leg, hip, and ear; was blinded in his left eye; survived two plane crashes; tunneled out of a prisoner-of-war camp; and tore off his own fingers when a doctor declined to amputate them. Describing his experiences in the First World War, he wrote, “Frankly, I had enjoyed the war.”[4]

The sad part is there are probably thousands of stories like these that are never recognized or even told. Most people don’t have that kind of fortitude, but those that do really show how indomitable the human spirit can be.
That reminds of a story you shared that has always really stuck with me. It’s when you were talking about what your maximum repetition of an exercise was (I think curls). You stopped and then your coach or whoever told you to keep going. Your final number was something crazy like 38 full reps, 23 half reps, 10 quarter reps before complete muscle failure.
There was a training I did recently that was talking about the CNS response that “makes” us stop and how to override it so we can get more out of our efforts.

YES and YES!!! Mind always quits first. One of my new favorite saying I’ve heard from multiple people…when ever you think your FUCKED…you’re probably only half-fucked.
